Discipleship groups, called D-Groups, are small groups of students with an adult leader in recognition that Jesus modeled a small group relational method of discipleship. Jesus discipled and built relationships with a small number of people, not at the expense of teaching and reaching large groups of people but rather concurrent with his outreach mission. In fact, intimate relationships were an integral part of His broader mission and thus He discipled people to this end; that we should carry the torch forward, to press on in the same manner so we understand that it is also part of our mission. The D-Group model is not the only means God used to grow and develop people but it is the most consistent and time-honored method Jesus employed while in the flesh, to grow and develop people.
